Four free days of Gulf shrimp, live music, art booths, and about 300,000 of your closest friends — right where Highway 59 meets the sand.
Hey locals and beach dreamers! Mark the calendar: the 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival runs Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Gulf Place in Gulf Shores — 101 Gulf Shores Parkway, where Hwy. 59 meets East Beach Blvd.
Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Official details live at myshrimpfest.com.
This is Alabama’s original beach party and still one of the biggest weekends on our calendar!
What You’ll Find at Shrimp Fest 2026
- Food: Shrimp every way you can think of — boiled, fried, steamed — plus crab cakes, seafood platters, fish tacos, burgers, shaved ice, and hand-squeezed lemonade from 50+ vendors.
- Music: Two stages going all four days. Country, classic rock, jazz, blues, and more — over 100 hours of live entertainment.
- Art & shopping: Fine art, sculpture, jewelry, and arts & crafts booths you can actually walk with a plate in your hand.
- Kids: Children’s Activity Village daily 10am - 5pm, plus a Saturday sand sculpture contest. Check the info booth for the contest time.
- Saturday morning run: 5K at 7:30 a.m. and 10K at 7:45 a.m. on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail. Details at myshrimpfest.com/run.
The event is volunteer-driven and a project of the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. Pets are not allowed on festival grounds or Gulf Shores public beaches. Coolers are not allowed inside the gates.
Parking, Shuttles & Road Closures
Do not plan to “just park at the beach.” Site setup starts the week of October 5. Highway 59 and Beach Boulevard closures typically begin October 7. Private lots around Gulf Place set their own fees. The city and the festival both say the same thing: take the shuttle.
Gulf Shores City Schools runs the festival shuttles. A daily wristband is about $6 (cards only, no cash) for unlimited rides that day. Children under 5 are not allowed on the buses per state law. Confirm the current price and pre-order window at the official parking page.

Shuttle hours: Thursday 1:30 p.m.–10:15 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 9:45 a.m.–10:15 p.m.; Sunday 9:45 a.m.–5:15 p.m. ADA parking with proper credentials is at the East Gulf Place resident lot, 201 E. Beach Blvd.
Why This Weekend Matters for Gulf Shores Real Estate
Shrimp Fest is not a one-off party. It is four days of proof that Gulf Shores still draws a national crowd in October — after the “summer season” a lot of buyers think is over.
That matters if you own a condo near Gulf Place, a West Beach walk-up, an Orange Beach rental, or a home a short drive inland. Visitors who come for shrimp and music stay in our inventory. Some come back the next year. Some decide they want a key of their own.
The same pattern we see with the airport, fishing tournaments, and festival weekends: more first-time visitors + a full event calendar = stronger demand for vacation homes, second homes, and well-located investments.
Properties a short shuttle ride or easy drive from Gulf Place stay booked when this weekend hits. Location and management matter more than ever when 250,000–300,000 people show up on the same four days.
Planning Your Weekend (or Your Next Purchase)
If you’re coming for the festival:
- Book lodging early — this weekend fills up.
- Take the shuttle. Wear comfortable shoes.
- Thursday or Sunday if you want a little more room to breathe. Saturday is the crush — and the run.
